Facilitation for Success Workshops
When: January and March 2009
Where: United Way of Central New Mexico
If you have ever been a participant at a New Mexico First town hall or event, you saw first-hand the value of deliberating important issues in a small group lead by a talented discussion leader and recorder. New Mexico First has a strong tradition of influencing public policy initiatives through our unique consensus-building process.
We have over 22 years of experience involving more than 6,000 citizens from all walks of life in our town halls, forums, and summits. New Mexico First is widely recognized for our leadership in helping citizens reach consensus on issues important to the state.
When forming a leadership team for NMF town halls and events, we look for citizens who are interested in using our facilitation model. Whether you are interested in volunteering to be a member of our leadership teams in the future or in leading groups at your own organization, we encourage you to attend one of our 2009 facilitation workshops.
By the end of the workshop, you will be able to:
- Design a group session using powerful questions as a basis for deliberations
- Use tested methods for generating, refining, and selecting ideas and reaching consensus
- Achieve and maintain group focus, encourage full group participation, and accomplish session objectives
The workshop will be lead by Carl Moore, principal of The Community Store, a Santa Fe firm that advises communities, governments, and non-profit organizations on planning, leadership, and decision-making processes. Carl has 35 years of experience in advising groups in 35 states and 10 countries.
Seating is limited. Each session is limited to 24 participants so early registration is recommended. The $100 fee covers workshop materials, lunch on Friday, and refreshments for both days.
