Background Report for Upcoming Town Hall Released Today

ALBUQUERQUE, NM, April 14, 2009 -- New Mexico First is pleased to announce the release of the background report for the upcoming statewide town hall meeting, Growing New Mexico’s Energy Economy. The report outlines New Mexico’s energy picture and its impact on the development of our state’s workforce and economy. It highlights issues related to both conventional and renewable energy sources as well as energy transmission and conservation. The report, while developed for participants at the town hall, is also a useful resource for policymakers, business leaders, and citizens who want to educate themselves about the issues.

All community members are invited to participate in New Mexico First’s three-day town hall to discuss concerns and priorities related to the state’s opportunities for economic growth driven by its energy resources. The event will be held May 14-16, 2009 at the Albuquerque Convention Center.

The town hall, which will be limited to 120 participants, will discuss these issues and provide policymakers with consensus driven recommendations. Individuals interested in attending the town hall should register by visiting www.nmfirst.org,
