Tomorrow’s Leaders Town Hall
Building Our Future: Social Issues Affecting Our Youth
Issue Context
Throughout the state, New Mexicans are talking about the importance of encouraging the aspirations of our youth. The importance of our youth and their role in becoming the leaders of tomorrow are key to sustaining our communities.
As the future decision makers and leaders in our communities, it is important that youth become engaged in the issues that affect their quality of life now. Their ideas regarding youth economic initiatives, teen pregnancy, school drop-out rates, substance abuse, and preparation for college or career can make our communities better.
Portales’ Youth Town Hall
Roosevelt County youths are invited to participate in this town hall to make their voices heard regarding the key social issues affecting them, their families, their schools, and their communities. The town hall will provide an opportunity for youth to make a difference in Portales and Roosevelt County.
What Will Happen After the Town Hall?
Youth recommendations can make a difference! They will be used by members of the Tomorrow’s Leaders program to inform city and county policymakers as they make decisions that affect the community.
