Facilitation Training

New Mexico First leadership training will provide a well-defined, step-by-step approach to help groups have productive meetings.  Whether you want to learn how to become a better group facilitator or simply a better participant in a group setting, this workshop will provide you with the knowledge and skills that enable groups to generate, develop, and select between ideas to reach consensus.

Our leadership training workshop introduces participants to the process, which optimizes group participation and effectiveness. Training covers forum design and evaluation, issue framing, discussion facilitation, consensus-building and recording consensus statements and recommendations.

Upon completion of this training, workshop participants can become eligible to serve in a facilitator or recorder role at these forms. Outside of New Mexico First events, this training makes participants more effective group discussion leaders in a wide variety of situations.

The workshop is led by Carl Moore, a consultant to civic and business groups in thirty-five states and ten countries for more than 30 years. As the proprietor of The Community Store in Santa Fe, Carl coaches community-wide goal setting and visioning, organizational decision-making, and strategic planning. He also conducts planning retreats and leadership programs, in addition to teaching facilitation techniques.

While New Mexico First generally offers several open enrollment workshops per year, this six-hour workshop can also be customized to meet the needs of a specific group.
