Keynotes and State Officials

Pam Hyde Secretary Pam Hyde, NM Department of Human Services, was appointed to her position in December 2002 by Governor Bill Richardson.  A lawyer by training, Ms. Hyde has 25 years experience in management and consulting for public sector systems of healthcare and human services. Ms. Hyde is committed to improving access, quality and accountability of health and human services programs. 
Michelle Lujan Grisham Secretary Michelle Lujan Grisham, NM Department of Health, was appointed to her position in August 2004 by Governor Richardson after having served as Secretary of the Aging and Long-Term Services Department. She directs a 4,000-staff department that oversees or provides mental, primary and long-term health services, infectious disease prevention and state health policy planning. 
Edmund Haislmaier Edmund H. Haislmaier, President of Stategic Policy Management, is a nationally recognized expert in health care policy and markets. He is a research fellow for the Heritage Foundation and has authored numerous papers on health care financing topics including health care tax policy, employer-based and individual health insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, foreign health systems, long-term care and health care price controls.
Bob Crittenden Bob Crittenden, M.D., M.P.H., Executive Director, Herndon Alliance, leads a coalition of national organizations focused on health care. He has been a family physician for over 30 years, serving underserved people.  He has worked for the state legislature, been a Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Fellow with Senator George Mitchell, was special assistant to Washington State Governor Gardner, and is a faculty member at the University of Washington. 

Town Hall Plenary Chair

Tony Trujillo Tony Trujillo, Director of Government Relations for Phelps Dodge Mining Company, chaired the town hall plenary session during which the participants' policy recommendations were finalized. Tony is a former board chair of New Mexico First. He holds several key leadership positions by appointment of the Governor. In addition, he is the immediate past chair of the Grant County Community Health Council.

Don Chalmers

Don Chalmers, President of Don Chalmers Ford in Rio Rancho, is a member of the St. Joseph Community Health Foundation, Wells Fargo Community Board, Quality New Mexico, and the United Way of Central New Mexico Board among several others.  His community engagement focuses on education, healthcare, economic development and community service.

Charlotte Roybal

Charlotte Roybal, Executive Director of Health Action New Mexico, leads an advocacy organization for affordable, accessible and quality healthcare for New Mexicans. As fiscal agent and coordinator of the Health Care for All Campaign, Health Action serves as staff to the Campaign. She serves as a consumer advocate on the Governor's Health Coverage for New Mexicans Committee.

David Scrase

David R. Scrase, M.D., Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Presbyterian Healthcare Services, joined Presbyterian Health Plan in 1998 as Medical Director.  Later that same year he was named Health Plan President.  He continues to practice internal medicine and geriatrics with Presbyterian Medical Group.   

Michael Trujillo

Michael H. Trujillo, M.D., M.P.H., Executive Director for Program Development & Community Outreach at the Translational Genomics Research Institute in Phoenix, is a member of Laguna Pueblo and has served as the Assistant Surgeon General and was commissioned to work for the U.S. Public Health Service.  He serves on the New Mexico Health Policy Commission.
